Faisal is a 5th year PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science department. His research focuses on studying how nanomaterials can interact with the immune system leading to autoimmunity. Upon graduation, he plans to work in the life science industry by helping biotechnology startups commercialize innovative new therapies. Prior to his PhD, Faisal received his master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Duke and undergrad in chemical engineering from the University of British Columbia.
Damon is a PhD Candidate at Duke University in the Biomedical Engineering Department focused on building biosensor technologies to improve global telehealth efforts. Upon completion of his PhD, Damon hopes to launch a company that places people at the center of their personal health care, and continue his career in venture capital investing in and helping founders build companies that solve important technical problems.
Austin is on faculty as an attending radiologist at Duke University where he trained in general radiology and neuroradiology. He has been a part of Duke Capital Partners since 2018. Austin has a MD and MBA from University of Pennsylvania.
Casey is a second-year student at Duke Law, where he is pursuing a dual degree in Law & Entrepreneurship. Upon graduation, he plans to work alongside companies and investors in Boston at the intersection of business, law, and innovation. Casey earned his B.S. in finance from the University of Florida.
Arnoldo Matheus is an MBA student at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Arnoldo is interested in venture capital and entrepreneurship, specifically in insurtech, fintech, and direct-to-consumer brands. He is a Mentor at 500 Global and Founder Institute and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Universidad Metropolitana and an M.S. in Finance from IESA.
Kavinayan Sivakumar is a PhD graduate from the Duke University Electrical and Computer Engineering program, having worked with Dr. Michael Zavlanos on transferring knowledge between heterogeneous agents. Kavin is interested in building companies that solve difficult problems through innovative technology. He has experience in venture capital through a previous fellowship, as well as some operator experience through his time at an incubator.
Christian is a fourth-year PhD student in the Pharmacology and Cancer Biology department at Duke. Upon graduating, he hopes to work in a biotech startup related to cell therapy and eventually wants to start his own biotech company in Puerto Rico. Prior to grad school, Christian received his B.S. degree in Bioprocessing Science with minors in Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing.
Audrey is a second-year MBA student at Duke University with over a decade of experience in the tech industry. She has worked across 15+ countries in Latin America, the USA, the UK, and Africa, driving B2B and B2C technology advancements. Post-graduation, Audrey aims to further her career at the intersection of strategy and technology, leveraging her global experience to shape future tech trends.
Sanjeev Chauhan, a senior at Duke University, is majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science, with a keen focus on AI and machine learning. Leveraging his experience as Founder of DeAP Learning Labs and a machine learning researcher at SLAC National Lab, he is exploring innovative AI ventures at Duke Capital Partners. He plans to use AI to break down barriers to education.
Udey is a fourth-year student pursuing an MD/MBA dual degree at the Duke University School of Medicine and Fuqua School of Business. Prior to medical school, he worked as an EMT and conducted research on topics in exercise physiology, metabolism, and developmental psychology. Upon graduation he plans to pursue a medical residency while continuing to be involved in the healthcare startup ecosystem.
