As a student at Duke University’s Fuqua School of BusinessVictoria Seskin, MBA ‘20, knew that how she chose to spend her time would define her business school education. “Working as a Duke Angel Network Associate while I was at Fuqua was, by far, the best use of my time,” says Victoria. Her work at DAN gave her, “hands-on experience that was not only engaging and educational, but also helped me to land my current investing job. Being a DAN Associate was the most engaging, relevant and applicable experience acquired during business school to equip me for my current job.”

After graduating from Fuqua, Victoria joined SDC Capital Partners as a Senior Associate (she’s now a Vice President), where she invests in companies at various stages. “I continue to use what I learned at DAN here at SDC. Shortly after starting at SDC, I got to work on an early stage deal. Because of my time as a DAN Associate, I brought great experience to that deal and felt prepared to tackle the intricacies of early stage investing. That’s because of my experience at DAN. The work I did at DAN has been extremely helpful, including learning how to give thoughtful feedback and work with businesses from their inception. I spend a lot of time supporting businesses from the ground up, and my experience at DAN was invaluable in terms of learning how to be a great partner to businesses at all stages.”

In addition to the professional experience she gained as a DAN Associate, Victoria says she is, “very grateful for the opportunity she had to work with the Operating Team. KurtPhill, and Dave are great mentors who not only provided valuable insight and guidance, but supported me throughout the recruiting process, and connected me with opportunities in the investing world.” Victoria looks back on her time at DAN as an, “awesome experience.” And her favorite part of working as an Associate on the team? “Working with founders and management teams,” Victoria says. “While the transaction process is exciting, getting to be part of the day to day and working with teams to grow their businesses over time and helping to solve exciting problems, is highly rewarding both personally and professionally.”
